It is extremely distressing to note that even the Supreme Court has played into the hands of political forces. While we did not expect the Supreme Court to overrule the reservation, the apex court could have set a sunset clause for reservation.
If Lalu Prasad can state, in his affidavit (as reported widely in many websites/ media) that merit is a “genetic accident”, how would one categorize a person being born in a caste/ religion? If one genetic accident cannot be recognized, how can another be?
It is quite a hopeless situation for the so called forward castes and it remains to be seen how far the politicians would take this, to attain their selfish motives of staying in power.
